Tylite, Inc. completes Voice Over Network
Upgrade for Spokane Public School District 81

Spokane, Washington, September 10, 2002 - Tylite, Inc., a Pacific Northwest company becoming the premier architect of high-speed Ethernet over Fiber networks, today announced they recently completed a voice upgrade project for Spokane Public School District 81 (SD81).  This network was the world's first Gigabit Ethernet network to over 50 schools.

SD81's Educational Metropolitan Area Network (EMAN) provides integrated voice, video and data services over a gigabit Ethernet fiber network linking 55 sites within their district.  Following a switch to a new telephone service provider, SD81 asked Tylite to monitor and tune voice quality aspects of the district's Voice over Network system.  The district had been achieving exceptional voice quality on their network since it had been implemented using RAD Data Communications' IPmux family of TDMoIP gateways, and they wanted to ensure that the reliability and quality of the voice system continued to meet the service levels they had established.

Tylite performed system analysis and test measurements, and tuned system parameters to meet District 81's voice quality requirements.  The changeover incorporated not only a new service provider and their vendor-specific requirements, but additional features, like bi-directional "caller ID", which were not available when the EMAN was initially installed.

Dennis Schweikhardt, Manager of Technology Infrastructure for SD 81 said, "We have worked closely with Tylite on several 'leading edge' technology projects.  Their professionalism, expertise and attention to detail enable us to meet our goals and deadlines without compromising the service levels we have established for our school district and our network."
